    made a hob fuge out of my hob filter and took out the blue filter pad completly is did i make a mistake or is it alright again the blue pads were in this morning i took both out and replaced them with cheto and added lights i'll make a diy thread later

    should i put one of the blue pads back in or leave them out?

    I would leave them out. If you are going to convert, you might as well go all the way. More room anyway. I think that is just your carbon anyway.

    I suppose if you wanted to leave it in, it would be OK. The water is exiting......so you could have the best of both worlds.....Just a matter of room.

    Hi,

    What you may want to do is take the filter pads and cut off all the floss, ditch the carbon and just use the frame as a barrier to keep in the cheato, but let through the pods that will grow in there. Also how are you going to regulate the flow, most hob filters have a pretty high gph flow rate.
