The incredible Tiaojiou LED aquarium lamp shows that the Earthquake Fish is not the only big thing to come from Taiwan. This feature-rich LED system rivals the MAXSPECT and even the Pacific Sun LED. Until this post, the Taiojiou has been a big secret kept by our friends out East. The obvious, the Tiaojiou has dials to control the intensity of each color of LED to set for individual taste or coral types. Don't want to get up? There is a remote control. Want to set and forget? There now is software to control the lamp over a 24 hour period down to 15 second intervals from your computer! Pics, videos and more details inside.

Maybe, but as we know LED lighting is seriously on the downslope of price.

The thing that sets this light apart is the options that it has. Those features it offers are pretty amazing really. I mean, what other light has a usb hookup and software to control it?

Well the Pacific Sun LED linked in first post is the only aquarium lamp I know of that comes close. It does not use USB, but bluetooth! This Tiaojiou LED is pretty unique though.

nice. The only thing that concerns me about this tho, is it is think and LEDs dont have a large coverge like say MH does. I'd be to afraid that the corals not placed directly under the unit it self wouldnt be getting enough light.

ouch, 3K (or 6K if they need to be doubled up for wider tanks) to light a 6' tank. oh well, just another reason to play the lotto I guess. That software is really cool, and who wouldn't want a remote for their fish tank . . . how pimp is that?

As you can see in the pictures, there are beams of light right on the coral, very un-natural looking. The unit need to be at least 12-18" above the tank for a good shimmer and natural lighting effect. I have experience with my Power Brites.
