I don't know if they can safely be sealed shut. Ask someone in the forum that deals with plumbing.

Just curious, why don't you want to use a sump?

Change your plan and run the sump!!! Might as well make it a complete upgrade.

If you are going this big there is absolutely no reason why you shouldnt go with a sump. Plugging those holes just makes for another area to possibly leak and takes away from the value of the tank. Run a sump if you can. You will be very happy you did.

Yeah, go to lowes and get some bulkheads and aquarium safe silicon!

Personally, I'd get the bulkheads and temporary some plumbing in so you can add a sump later! Chances are you're going to want one;)

    Hi chewbaca,

I found some answers for you in the lighting, filters etc. forum. Since I basically suck regarding how to give you a link maybe you can just go find it.

However, go all the way and do a sump if possible (great advice from the above posters :)). You'll be so happy you did as it has a gazillion benefits, especially with a tank your size.

I'm tryin' for you my friend. :)

I'm like the idea of a sump, but the bOSS, aka the wife, is against it, she is afraid it will flood the house, I've explained it can be set up to where that can't happen, but she says no
