I put a cap with a 1/4 hole in it on that pipe and the noise went way down.

    Serotin,

I am having the same problem. I have a 20Gal and a smaller Rio HF pump and I am diverting about 50% of the pumps output. I took timed measurements (5 times) and I am currently only getting 150GPH. My overflow looks just like yours. Only thing I did different is I added a nipple @ the T to use clear tubing to the sump. Anyone have any suggestions to increase its capacity to about 400gph?

    Serotin,
Here is some pics of the way I done it no my 55 gal. The middle pic you can see the valve next to the pump.

On my 265 gal I use two Durso standpipes 1 1/4" reduced down to a 1" bulkhead and they are keeping up with a Mag18 with 5' of head.

I done the same thing on my 265 but I keep the valve completely shut because I am not overpowering the standpipes. I may step up to a larger pump so I went ahead and put the valve in.
I have noticed one thing that if I cut off the vent hole on the standpipes it creates a siphon and will totally drain my OF box quick. Maybe you can cut down on your vent hole and see if you can get more flow out of it by creating more of a siphon, just a thought.:-/

    Good news bad news.

    Good:
I lowered the intake siphon by 1". it is now taking all 400gph the pump can throw at it.

    Bad:
LOUD! now it gurgles and burps in the sump a lot.
