well, when we dismantled the tank, there was a LOT of sand in it..

I was just wondering if instead of throwing it away, could we wash it real good and then reuse it?

its probably been sitting there for a REAL LONG time.::) so.....

Just toss it, so much easier to do that. You'll spend hours trying to clean it and there will still be organic material left. You don't want anything being carried over and starting fresh will be much easier.

I disagree, as long as you have some place to put it when your done I say wash it, put it out on a piece of plywood and let it dry a day or two. Then put it into a bucket or two with lids. I did a 75 gallon with 4 inches of sand in it in about an hour and saved myself about 70 bucks or more in the process for when I set up my next tank.

well, if we were to wash it, we would pretty much use it 5 days after. or so.

yeah we were thinking on that... if there was any organic material left..
how harmful would that be? considering we let the cycle run its course and so on.
