Inactivation Palytoxins are stable in seawater and lower alcohols.

well i guess thats why you can have them in your tank and get chopped up in a powerhead, but that makes me wonder could your tank water its self be poisonous if enough palytoxin is in it?

basically your fine as long as you don't injest, inhale, or let it get in a cut.

+1 on being careful. Palytoxin is one of the most poisonous natural toxins in the world. One drop of that stuff can easily be enough to kill a adult. Just be careful, and wash everything you used when fragging them VERY well.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that they ALL are toxic, the problem is no one knows WHICH ones are and THATS the problem. Safety first!!

A friend had one squirt him in the eye during fragging (after using no precautions for years) and his eye swole up red and got puffy for about 3 weeks. It looked like he took a bat to the eye or something. better safe than sorry!

    Thanks everyone!

Wow, gazog....I read the information on those links. It's amazing how toxic some zoas can be!

Well, I for one won't take chances. I'll use gloves & eye protection.....
