I am sure those schooled in the subtleties of zoanthid and palys characteristics can see the difference. They looks almost exactly a like to me. The only types I can ID with relative certainty are Rastas and Blue Hornets, that is because I covet them, oh and Sunny D's.
I would certainly take Jerrys ID over mine any day. :)

I think they were first called goochsters. That sounded a little too nerdy, where as Armor of God's sounds awesome. I also thought they were palys. I think most likely the correct ID is pink, as Alex suggested. :p

Post an image of them please, you lucky duck. :)

    :hammer:

Something tells me Zesty was looking for something a little less obvious.

"thing from the ocean sitting in glass box of water" is along the same lines.

    :p

Well Cheryl, I have hornets AND rastas and a big colony of sunny d's... but because you are the princess of snark you GET NOTHING (my hornets are purple hornets my blues were eaten) (my rastas are growing 2-3 polyps a week right now)

    :surprised

Someone was obviously nice enough to name yours for you. It almost sounds like the name of those zoanthids conveys some degree of worth if not denotes identification. Snark back at you: :rifle:

The only reason I care about fancy silly names is because it provides a common data base regarding general husbandry, also makes them easier to acquire.

Hey Alex can I have some of those zoanthids with the green skirts?

You can not deny that not all zoanthids and palys react the same under the same conditions. Sure generally they do, but there are the exceptions.
