So I am new to the zeovit and bio pellets side of things. I was wondering if both would work say in a filter bag in my Rena Xp4? right now the only thing in my rena is rock rubble, carbon, and GFO??

I don't have the room for a reactor as I only have a 25g reef at the moment with no sump.

    Pellets might work
can speak on Zeo as I dont know anything about it

Pellets need to be tumbled but they are quite small so leaving them loose in a tray in a cannister will not work as they would be all over the place and clogging things up IMO

But if you took the middle tray, put the pellets in and then wrapped the tray in a mesh bag ( old aquarium netting) and then put the mesh wrapped tray back in
the pellets could move about but not end up all over the filter

PS if your considering this due to a nitrate issue
you might achieve good results by removing and throwing away the rock rubble in the cannister over the next 3 or 4 weeks
