So it has been almost a week and the xenia is still looking ok. How do you now if it is doing well or if it is just hanging in there slowly dyeing? It opens during the day when the lights go on fairly quickly and doesnt pulse to much but flows with the current (didnt pulse at the store either) and closes up really tightly at night with the lights off. I havnt seen any signs of growth or spreading but Im assuming it is far too early for that to happen.

Give it some more time, it is still getting used to your tank.

The more I have been researching Xenia, the more I believe that is the best way to keep it from crashing. I have read where people have used multiple different species of Xenia to aid in nutrient uptake. I don't know how useful they are in this regrd, but they claim that by keeping multiple species of Xenia, it keeps the entire colony from crashing! Not 100% sure on this last one.

Congrats on your first coral! I was planning on getting a xenia too for my first coral and I was just wondering how long has your tank been established?
