Yes, Xenia like high nutrient levels and intense light for long term success!

I certainly haven't been overdoing the water changes. More like, I finally remembered to do one. I"ll have to get my act together and do a full water quality check.
As for light intensity, is that something you can judge on a watts per gallon scale?

Not necessarilly, you have to take the size and dimension of your tank into account as well IMO.

I wonder if the addition of my sump/fuge coincided with the start of the decline of my xenia...ie decreased nutrient levels.
I just put a fan on the sump that comes on with the 10,000K light and my temp stays between 77F and 79F. I didn't think this was too much fluctuation in temp.

Darn, was vacuuming my LR this A.M. getting off some Red Slime and other stuff off rocks, and sucked my prize xenia colony into the vacuum hose.:-[

Looks like it sucked all the juice out of the stalks - has been a limp fagged out mess most of the day...but has started to perk up this evening and some of the polyps have fully recovered and are pulsing nicely.

This is really a durable animal.

there's probably a fairly off-color comment that could go along with the last post and the thread subject...but i'll leave it alone...

Hey...was just reading an article about xenia problems...

It basically stated that xenia are exceptionally sensitive to light or carbon use changes.

Changed lights lately? --- maybe light periods?

    Started or stopped using carbon?

Article said either could trigger a xenia die-off.

    FYI
