    Sorry for poor pic, but couldn't get close enough. Its reall small and has fine hair like tentacles streaming out an inch or two long from center. I squished one and tore him up with a toothbrush then this guy popped up.

    I am guess some type of spaghetti worm or vermatid snail.

    are you talking about the web? If its coming out of a sort of shell on the rock then its a vermetid snail as mentioned above. They will not sting, it's more like spider's silk.

    Are the string structures kind of fluid, or stiff and calcified? Is it almost snot like?

    Ya its very fine silk like thread and when I poke it, it will move and retract. I hate these weird things that suddenly sprout outta nowhere, but it is fun to learn and I very much appreciate all your input and answers here.
