Dern Geek, had I been home, ida helped ya! where's jim? I'm still in NY till next week. Good score man! isn't it a great feeling to know when you get a good deal! Ya'll keep your eyes peeled, there'll be more out there! With the price of gas and everything else going up, a lot of folks will have to get rid of their tanks... I hate it for them, but.............. Ya'll keep your eyes peeled for some used but not abused mh's(guessing for Geek and me too)

Great idea, I know someone now that is putting nasty rock in a new 180 and he is a know it all so I didn't dare tell him he needs to nuke that nasty crap, I will see how his tank turns out::) But anyway congrats on the find and keep us updated!!!

now if you bake the sand, won't everything in there be dead??? If it's dead, aren't you just putting phosphates in there and asking for trouble????? Something to think about. I wouldn't kill the rock either unless you want to cook it for a really long time.

Since its all going to be used to cycle the tank, there is no harm in it. The sand will be rinsed out before its baked. After the rock is dryed out, Im taking a pressure washer to it.

Im not trying to be an arse, but this aint my first rodeo, lol. Ive been doing this a long time and my methods have been repeated over and over in all of my tanks and other peoples tanks I helped set up over the years.
