Will this work for a sump/ refugium filter?

    my media is in a separate compartment then the skimmer. the water from the DT goes directly into the chamber the filter media is in theb it flows out from the bottom of the campartment and into the skimmer section the throught the bubble trap. what do you meen lower the bag into the water/ tank? so it is soaking in the the water instead of the water just passing through it?
