I have got a internal overflow box in my 8x2x2, im waiting for my sump pump to arrive so i can begin the plumbing...the pump will be a laguna 6000 and the the overflow hole suits a 25mm bulkhead.should i upgrade the piping to 30mm for more water flow to the sump ?

25mm isn't very big for an 8x2x2 tank, but neither is 30mm. I'm not sure that will even handle all of your flow from your return pump, depending how much head loss you have. You might need to dial the pump back with a valve.

For larger tanks 1.5" or about 38-40mm is pretty common I believe.

Also, the Laguna is designated a pond pump, have you doublechecked to make sure it's OK for saltwater, assuming this is going to be a reef?
