    I checked my filter today and it was caked. I put in a new one. Will do some testing tomorrow.

    Good. That will help out a lot. Not only with your phosphates but your nitrates. You may want to consider cleaning it off every few days for the short term until you have the waste production under control. And see if you can get some of that phosphat-E. It is really a good product.
