Why do I have so much algae

    I do not have a kit to check phosphates I will have to take that to my lfs soon

    i had a big time algae problem. I shortened my photoperiod down to 8 hours by timers, and started a refugium. cheato, a 65k bulb from lowes, a 6 gallon rubbermade and a bulkhead. It cost me about 20 bucks to cure my GHA issue in 3 months without doing much of anything else.

    im gonna say there are too many nutrients in your water. i have an 8 gal bio. it seems small tanks are impossible to keep with out having alge lol. for the red slime I HIGHLY RECCOMEND getting this stuff called red slime remover. got rid of all my red slime in 2 days. and some emerald crabs should take care of hair algae. mines doing good so far. i know exactly what your going through
