wht substrate do you use?

    I think I have a mix of all of them. Carib-Sea select, special grade and oolite, topped off with Aragalive Fiji Pink. Totalling about 5-6 inches deep. I don't clean it I have about 30 nassarius and a couple conchs alone with a cuke and a sand sifting gobie that move this stuff around all the time. After a couple of months I can see gas bubbles forming about an inch or so down where the snails etc don't go. I think that is a sign that the dsb is working.......

    About the post two above this one-- definately not recommended to mix grain sizes. It's trouble in the long run.

    Why cant you mix sizes.....I am sure mother nature mixes it up. This sand was added and mixed together when the tank was first set up and believe me it has been mixed thoroughly by the gobie.
