    I just work here, I'm not a Reed :) Gresham H...

Many friends of mine buy a 10g tank, bring a small powerhead and heater and use that for the weekend... than bag for transport.

Flying is a gamble for many in terms of getting it home, although, I've never had any issues. Be upfront, its "live coral & plants". They like to inspect, so don't tape up the box prior to checking your luggage. You are not doing anything illegal and the airlines do allow it... not all employees know this though, that is what makes it a gamble. Oh, do not mark the box perishable or that it contains LIVE anything, that's why I say do not tape prior and be upfront. Definitely do not mark FRAGILE ;)

So can you just put livestock in with the rest of your luggage? I was planning to do this with a coral or 2. I've heard that people put the coral in with a thermos or a plastic bag and use their clothes for padding. Is there any other way to bring it with you other than to ship it overnight? For me, that could be quite expensive.

Brings back memories. :) The days of the thermos trading. I don't think I ever lost a coral I shipped or a coral I received.

So you guys just put the thermos in your cargo? You can't bring it as a carry on, correct?

just booked the hotel! Staying at the Sheraton where the convention is.....psyched now!

it was funny because i booked on the phone and the reservation specialist was like.......so what exactly is this club and what is done at this convention. I felt like such the geek that I am telling her it is a meeting about corals, reef fish etc and that this was my BIG VACATION for the year and am looking forward to it.

She humored me very well telling me that it sounds interesting but i have a feeling for someone not in the hobby she was like "nerd" I know people at work dont understand that i took a week off to go to this when everyone else is going to disney, myrtle beach, spain etc!

sadly, if it is anything like last year, we could go to spain cheaper after all the stuff we bought!

they say the rooms sleep 4 people. Share room/split costs?

it appears that the rooms have a sleeper couch in them that we have

if you want to share with old geezers like us......we have the sleeper bed open. Sure inwall would agree
