i had actually heard about this like 3 or 4 months ago. Sounds like it is a bigger deal then what people were thinking. IMO I dont think it was handled properly and vendors were probably a little P.O. that they were not notified until a month or so before the event. plus to even take the chance of getting hit with such a large tax is probably not worht it to most of the bigger companies

Like I said before, I would need to see proof that Texas or any state has ever gone after past sales tax due to a booth being set up at a conference. This sounds like another Internet induced overreaction.

If the risk was $10,000-100,000 in past tax revenue I wouldn't risk my business to the exposure. Whether they have ever done it before or not doesn't mean that they won't... If it's law, it's law. And it's just not worth the risk.

Actually precedence always matters. I just don't believe that the law pertains to this situation.

There is no precedence set. Precedence is set with a court ruling not a lack of one. At this point the law is open to interpretation.

Okay....well the lack of precedence tells me this is a non-issue. It is definitely a non-issue for me since I am more interested in the speakers than the vendors.

    I don't get there until 11 tomorrow night. :(

But that gives me all day tomorrow to make sure things will be fine without me for a few days. :)
