My design is going to be skimmer section first, then return, then fuge. My drain will be split going into the skimmer section and the fuge controlled with a ball valve into the fuge. I am going to have a bubble trap with three baffles coming out of the skimmer section (over, under, over) and 1 baffle with teeth coming out of the fuge.
Ok first of all I had some baffles cut at lowes that didnt fit :mad2:
I asked the guy to cut my baffles 11 7/8" wide, hoping I would have just enough play on each side without being too tight...I was wrong or he doesnt know how to cut right!
I was going to make my skimmer section 11"L x 10"H. (my new skimmer will fit this footprint). My fuge section is going to be 11"L x 11"H. Return section will be 9"L x 6"H.
Heres what i had in mind: 1st baffle will be 10"H...2nd baffle will also be 10"H, however, it will be raised 1" off the bottom of the sump. 3rd baffle 6"H. Will this be ok and allow room for overflow prevention in case of an outage? Tell me what are your specs for your 20 gal long please. Tank dimensions are
    30"L x 12"W x 12"H

Question 1: How wide are your baffles cut?
Question 2: how tall should each baffle/section be?
Question 3: How long should I make my return section and fuge section?
Question 4: How tall should I make my third baffle after the skimmer section as to this will set the height of my return section?
    Thank you in advance:fish2:

    1) depends on your brand of tank.
    2) depends on your skimmer and overall sump design.
    3) I made my fuge 9" and return 8"
    4) depends on the height your skimmer requires.

    Answers to above questions:
    #1- aquaeon glass tank
#2- going to get either an swc 120/160 or SRO XP1000SSS...either one will fit the footprint i have specified above and water depth of 10" as stated above.
#4- I dont believe this should have anything to do with the required depth of my skimmer....the first baffle will set the skimmer depth correct?

    thank you again.

Of the 3 glass panels for a baffle...the first panel will set the water depth, yes. Water won't go up by itself. The return section will be the section with the lowest(of 3(skimmer/fuge/return)) water level..

You could check out melevsreef.com and he has a DIY on how to build your own sump/ refugium.

I also had my panels cut to 11 7/8" and they were too big. Should have been 11 5/8, so I just placed them on a slight angle rather than having them re-cut. I am the only one who sees my sump anyway.

    Everything else looks good.

    Nice sump. Very well, layed-out.
