As a juvi, it is sometimes very hard to distinguish the powder brown from the white cheek. The White Cheek has NO red coloration on its fins.

    Pretty much standard stuff.

    Hardier than powder brown
    Easier to get eating
Still requires lots of grazing, and swimming room.

Did I mention, you can cross breed them with an Achilles Tang..... beautiful hybrid.

IMO They are very aggressive with other tangs. They do better in an established tank, as they do not tolerate changes in their water pharms well, But the biggest problem I had before I traded him due to aggression (with all his tank mates) was getting it to eat. So if you get one please make sure he is eating before bringing him home.

My Whitecheek is my favorite fish. He is def the leader of the tank but tolerates my Hippo just fine. Had problems getting him to eat initially but since he is doing fine. His favorite food is Julian Sprung's Purple Seaweed sold at petsmart and online prob even some LFS. He wont eat any other kind of clip on algae so that might be helpful. Heres a pic...

Whitecheeks (aka gold rim tangs)are a favorite of mine, looks wise. Bluetang, yours is beautiful.
And for anyone that has had one, how would you rate the white cheek as far as aggressiveness? Especially in comparison to a powder blue or powder brown?

I have been thinking of getting one.

I've got one in my FOWLR along with a Yellow Tang and the fish is just spectacular! No doubt one of my favorites. No aggression at all.
I feed flake Brine with Spirulina Mysis and dried Krill and my Gold rim eats it all up with vigor.
