    Montipora danae "Sunset monti frag" [​IMG]

    I like the colors now im just starting out with coral would this be something that is ok for a beginner? Thanks

    Monti's are often indicated as one of the best SPS beginner corals

    if your confident in your water quality
    know your Mag, Calcium and Alkalinity levels and have the means to correct them if they are low
    have nitrates lower than 3ppm
    phosphates lower than .03 ppm
    and have reasonable to good lighting

    then go for it IMHO

    Thank you, all of my water parameters are spot on after dropping my S.G. levels this weekend. So i might go and pick it up.

    It certainly is a beautiful piece, I would have a hard time resisting. As suggested above, if you have the lighting and good parameters go for it.

    not those, IMO they are one very slow growing piece.

    Growth rates are relative. Since it is an encrusting type I think they tend to grow a little slower than most other sps, just my experience. It certainly is not going to grow as fast as most soft corals and it's growth will dependent on lighing and parameter.

    As with most corals if you do not watch them grow they grow a lot faster. ::)

    Thank you for all the help, I looked in my tank and finally i have purple coraline alge growning (I think) will take some pictures of it.
