Ok guys and girls, I want to buy a pinpoint monitor but I dont know which one would be more important, the nitrate, or the calcium. I have testers for both but would like to eliminate the counting and time consuming part of those tests. I have the money to buy only one right now, which one do you think? Thanks

I would get calcium if it was me and just test periodically for nitrates.

I set up a calcium monitor a few months ago they are to much trouble and not at all that accurate .. It was the pin point as well I'd spend the money on a ca reactor and as for nitrates I just run a coil and a DSB in my refugiums so I never have NO3 problems anyways.. Hell I'll make you a great deal on this monitor :) Totally unreliable .

I' ve never had a CA or NO3 monitor but have heard the same stories Tangster described. I would save you money and get a $200.00 Coral. LOL

    I agree, forget the monitors...

But keep an eye on nitrates, that is a pretty heavy bio-load you have.
