Which came first?

So what goes first the rock then sand or sand then rock?:-/

 

If you put the base rocks in first then the sand there is less chance of anything digging and destablizing the pile.

 

That makes perfect sense. Wow thank you that could have saved me a bad accident from happening.

 

I've done it both ways. My first tank I put the rock in first, then the sand. This tank I put the sand in first, then placed the base rocks, pushing them down into the sand to the bottom for stabilization. There's now a burrow under every base rock in my tank & no problems.

 

You could do it both ways however I did lose a wheelers Goby from a rock collapsing from his Pistol shrimp digging a burrow. Fortunatly the Shrimp dug himself out. Either way you do it just make sure the rock is touching the bottom.
