    Given the nature of SPS and its ability to die quickly from seemingly unknown causes, I would say that it's much more statistically likely that the poc is having an unrelated problem and the asterina was just cleaning up the aftermath.

    Don't let the starfish derail you from investigating other possibilities. The most obvious possibility is almost always the cause, and there's no arguing the fact that SPS is a fickle beast at best.

    That's a great point Mike and what makes me go back and forth on it every time I see this.
    That said, I am leaning on this one as that coral has been an easy grower and consistently stable . But I can't rule it out all the same. :)

    I just saw an asernia for the first time in a year and a half that this tank has been running. Must have come in on a fresh i got a couple weeks ago. I'm gonna get him next time I see it. Pluck with a turkey baster I think, unless someone has another idea?

    I use tweezers. They grip really good on the rocks

    very cool looking shrimps guys! hope they get the job done! this thread taught me about bongo shrimp - had never heard of them before! isn't this hobby grand?? :)
