Post what lighting fixtures or set ups that you use. If you want you can say why you chose that type of lighting.

    Brand-
    Type of Light-
    Why you chose it-

I think this will be helpful for us newbs to consider what type of lighting to use.

    Thanks,

    3x 400w MH's + VHO Super Actinics
I don't want limitations on what I can keep under them.

    current sundials t5 HO
    2 54w 10000k, 2 54w 460nm attinics

    for the price,
dual integrated timers, one plug, individual reflectors.
photocell moonlights (more of a perk).
can change out the current bulbs for better ones.
fans are in the back of the unit with the timers which makes it easier to install in a hood.

Chose it when I knew nothing about lighting and am happy with it even though I've learned a lot more from these guys. They helped me make the decision and I'll be getting 2 more to go over my 160g to make 3x 250w 14000k MH

    2 x 175 watt iwasaki 15000K mh halide
I chose 175 watt because upon studying the photosaturation of various corals, with the right bulb there's nothing I can't keep up to 26 inches deepthe 175 watt iwasaki 15000k has more light output than most 250 watt bulbs.
According to Sanjay Joshi's website, there are only 13 250 watt bulbs that he tested that put out more light than the iwasaki 175 watt 15000k and this includes the xm 250 watt 15000k

I was new and it was relatively inexpensive. It's working so far, but when I upgrade, I think I will go with MH.

    I have the same lights.

I got it for two reasons. First, I originally ordered the Nova Extreme version without timers... though the site said it had moonlights, it did not. They stopped including them as soon as they found out I ordered one! (j/k, but my timing was unfortunate). I wanted them integrated, so I sent them back.
Second, I have used several different timers and they all were crap and would reset after a couple of weeks. I got sick of dealing with it. The integrated timers on these SunDial's are excellent.

Lesson learned: The SunDial moon lights are in the back... so they light up the back of your tank... behind my rocks... fail. Oh well. Like said earlier, this is just a perk - not a deal breaker.
