Please do, I would like to see what he did, as for chaeto, I have some you can have for free, just come on by. Mornings work best but just PM and we can arrange something. Do you think you could replicate that mod on mine?

    Ok

I'm suppose to be studying but cant help but take breaks and fidget with the tank so I decided to take some pics, since my camera wasnt charged, I hope these pics from my blackberry work. The first picture shows the connection of the air tube to the intake of the mj1200, the second picture shows the other end of the air tube with the inlet controller thing, the third picture shows the skimmer, I jus emptied it this mornin and already its collected some more which you can see the consistency of in the next picture. Also in the third picture you can see the light fixture I attached to the empty compartment to use for the chaeto/refugium :).

Nightstick, I googled south elgin and its actually pretty far so I think I'll wait a little while and see if they get any at tropiquatics any time soon or maybe later sometime I'll jus take a drive on out there. I hope the pics help

I am so jealous, maybe I have mine hooked up wrong? I don't get that kind of skimmate, I have a different pump though a rio600rv, that is why I am going to do the airstone mod next week!

Let me know how it goes, thats probably the cheapest solution so hopefully it makes a difference or you could always try to find a used mj1200 and do the mod. . I think they are like 25 bucks brand new at petco but thats 25 that could be spent on other stuff. I may try this also if it works well for you even though im skimming well.

I had a heater in the return section of my bh-100f didn't come close to melting the plastic. By the way theres a big difference between wet and dry skimming. Wet skims alot more in a short amount of time, dry makes a thick nasty foam that collects. In my experience you get way better results dry skimming. Some skimmers you can adjust the water level in your chamber, mine you cant. I have to adjust the water level by lowering/raising my cup height. Im not sure about your skimmer, but try raising your collection cup a little/ lowering the water level in your chamber.

i just got it a couple days ago so I been adjusting the height of the cup gradually in order to get dryer skimmate but its pretty decent so far in density, not quite gunk yet but its gettin some good skimmate. The only thing that sucks is the microbubbles after I feed, they go away in about a half hour but its still annoying. I really dont see the point in putting the heater in there because its barely noticeable attached in the corner of my tank, it kind of just blends into my background compared to the other bulky things like the koralias, pump and return for the skimmer and pump and return for phosphate reactor, intake and return for the fluval and my HOB refugium intake.

Nightstick, about where is your O ring on your cup?

Yeah I thought the same thing with my new 20 long. My heater is barely noticable in the corner. I hid my return pipe inside my rockscape. This helped with the micro bubble problem I had as well.

Ok, I have been reading and reading and I finally found something that works. I placed my muffler/air intake from the pump into the water and it flushed some debris out of the hose/line. I will still be putting an airstone into the chamber in a few days. I have the o-ring about a 1/3 of the way from the top in the pic but I just move it after my little experiment! I will let you guys know if it works?
