    its def not an anemone...but upon further looking...it looks like it was coming out of the fungia's "mouth"...and it would respond to touch like a feather duster..but its not there today :-/ very weird.... and yeh it is pretty close to the elegance...lol but as long as its not touching yet...my elegance is a MONSTER at about 9-10" long

    I have a feather duster in my plate. Just grows out of it by its mouth. Hasn't hurt the plate yet. Looks like a barnacle to me.

    I don't have one on my plate, but half my acans have dusters sticking out of them, so I'd think it's nothing to worry about. Just keep an eye on it to be sure it isn't algae.

    Ya know, after googling barnacle images and looking at the pics of crowns I believe you are exactly right. Nice call man!

    but dont barnacles move constantly? this was just out like a duster until i would touch it..

    yes and no. Some constantly have their "hand" moving about, but some do not. Can you rotate the plate so we can get a better shot of it?
