And how do you maintain it?

My biocube was cooking at 80-81 degree's with a maxijet 1200 so I had to put the stock pump back in, but im having trouble even keeping it down to 76.5 (even when the lights have been off for a while)
the heater is only a 50watt and its set for 75 degrees.

Im worried about setting the heater lower, I dont want the water getting too cold at night. What kind of temps do you guys try to stay at and how do you maintain em.

Above 70 and less than 85 is a safe range I think, and they would be more comfortable at around 78.

I keep mine at 78. I use fans to cool it if I need to. Even a cheap clip on fan from walmart does wonders to cool lights and promote evaporation. 76 is a little cool IMO but not dangerous. 80 is not to bad, it's when it gets to 82 I start to cool it.

I was trying to bring my down because my LFS owner said 78 is too warm for magerita snails, and I wanted a couple. He said 76 is the max for them.

My tank stays at 79. The ambient temp in my house stays around 68-70 which helps to cool the tank and I have a heater that is set at 79 to maintain it.
