What kind of mantis?

    Found this little guy at a Petco. They gave him to me for free and right now he's in a 5 gallon tank and doing well, although he hasn't touched the shrimp pellet that's near him. I looked online and think he might be a Neogonodactylus wennerae but I'm not sure.

    Hmm I think you're right. I'm honestly not too concerned as long as he isn't a species that gets over 12" lol. Then I'd have to have a decent size tank for him as an adult that also is capable of taking a beating. I just got a couple tiny hermits and snails for him. Hopefully he'll learn what the pellets are from watching the hermits eat them, before he eats the hermits.

    Try fresh seafood like fish or squid.:)
    If I am correct they only reach about 3.5 inches so you should be O.K.

    I've heard they can be pretty picky eaters but once you figure out their favorite they'll do the "oh the giver of food comes! bring me my next victim slave!" I've heard people have success with crabs such as emeralds and those general types of crabs but that's kind of expensive. you'll have to look around in your area and see what you can find to play with food wise.

    Fresh squid worked for me, clam as well. Nice mantis
