    While looking through all the photos I have to agree the mouth and dorsal fins look like a sea bass. It isn't uncommon for fish species to hybridize in the ocean and in facilities. Could easily be a sea bass x snub nose hybrid.

    Best option is to let it grow and see how it changes. You could always send a tissue sample to a marine biology facility. It will cost you a pretty penny but they will be able to tell you exactly what it is.

    from the pictures ive seen of the sea bass, the fish in your tank looks nothing like a sea bass. Sea bass dont have spots. Sea bass have scaled skin.
