Unresolved What is this branching thread growing on my tank wall??

    Its Brown in colour, i had scrapped it off but it cam again and that too more faster than before... i looks like nerves stuck on wall and extremely tiny threads come out at the ends and keep spreading. here is a pic:

    Sorry for bad pic, 1 is growing on a front wall but its too tiny, will repost again once its grown bigger....

    What can it be??

    I would be tempted to say Hydroids if you have already ruled out algae types.

    Fairly common in newer set ups and usually dies off.

    i have a million hydroids in sump and on the dark spots in the tank. its not that..... they spread like branches... looks kool but u know too much of something dont look that kool......

    i had the same rocks in my old tank (2yrs), just transfered to new and added dead sand and dear rocks... never saw this before.....

    I had this in my 29g tank when the tank reached about 1 year old. I didn't get a for-sure ID on it, but people on my thread said it was a sponge.

    if its just regrowing after you scape it sounds like a sponge john from reef cleaners might be able to make an ID
