What is a good bulb for a planted FW 1-bulb hood?

Would you recommend any supplemental additives for a planted tank or not?

 

Yes, potassium at about 30ppm, iron at at least a steady .1ppm, carbon whether from pressurized CO2 or from Seachem Excel or its equivalent, phosphate at 1ppm to 2ppm, nitrate at 10ppm to 20ppm and a good micro nutrient mix.

 

Like a fertilizer?

 

Not really check out CSM+B at Green Leaf Aquariums. In fact you can get everything but the carbon or CO2 there.

 

What are your thoughts on the kit to the left in the link (fundamentals kit)?

Flourish Liquid Plant Packs

 

You will most likely need both kits. I do not like the Flourish myself as it seemed to cause my tank to cloud whenever I used it. You will need to get their Trace also.

 

Who knew a planted tank could be so difficult . I'll give Flourish a try and see how it does (Those 6 bottles should supplement what I need, right?). Thanks so much for your guidance, couldn't have done this without it. I'll post before and after pictures once my plants grow up a little more. BTW, the Green Leaf Aquarium site is a great site.

 

Ordered both packages. Will that be all I need for a thriving planted tank?

Nice growth, the kits should just about cover everything.
