I just wanted to say I really appreciated all the advice especially the advice on how to keep the DT alive and all the suggestions for how to help with the pump.

I tried all the suggestions given and soaking the pump in vinegar for 2 hours after cleaning it did bring it back to life but unfortunately only for about 3 minutes and then it didn't have enough power to push the water all the way upstairs.

Hopefully this new pump will not let me down. So far so good, it is pumping more water than the old one and not even at highest setting and is silent.

Again I appreciate all the help.

My advice.Get a backup when you can afford it.It may be cheaper but quality and more money usually buy piece of mind as you know these things always seem to quit at the worst possible time(thanks alot Murphy lol). You should be enjoying your tank not worrying about equipment failure.Good luck!!

Nope, that's a lot to shell out on a return pump. If that lottery ever works out though, I'd like to try one. Apparently they looked pretty good at Interzoo.
