If i go with the tek 48" 4 bulb fixture, what bulbs do you recommend. Its for my 55 and I would like to have a bit of a blue appearance. I currently have a black ocellaris and I love the look of those under good actinics but I also want to have enough light for softies and some LPS. What do u recommend

i would use 2 10,000k t5 day bulbs and 2 650 actinic t5 bulbs that should do it.

    2 ATI Blue+ and 2 ATI Aquablue.....
Most PAR for the bulbs and will have a blue hue to it...

The ATI will outperform the UVL PAR wise, and cost just about the same.

    Happy lighting!

I like Aqua Science 15,000K daylight and 22,000k Blue bulbs, I prefer the color over a 50/50 mix of UVL Super Actinic and Actinic White. However, it may be too blue for you. For a little blue hint, I agree with Dr. Fragenstein.

If i order the tek light fixture from aquacave.com they have 4 options for bulbs that would be a little cheaper than buying them separately.
    Option 1:
2 x AquaSun 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by UV Lighting
2 x Super Actinic R 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by UV Lighting

    Option 2:
2 x Actinic White 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by UV Lighting
2 x Super Actinic R 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by UV Lighting

    Option 3:
1 x AquaSun 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by UV Lighting
1 x Actinic White 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by UV Lighting
2 x Super Actinic R 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by UV Lighting

    Option 4:
4 x Planta 54W T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps by Aqua Medic

Of those 4 options which of the 4 do you think would be the best? If I really want a blue color to the tank should I just buy the bulbs separately?

I would do 3 ATI Blue+ and 1 ATI Aquablue if you want REALLY blue but with good PAR...

The UVL packages are decent but it won't be much more to get the ATIs and you will be happy with them.

    Happy reefing!

Should i get all blue bulbs? is the par on a white bulb much better? I want to have a blue light but I dont necessarily want it took have a really dark look either. Im trying to get an idea of how bright my tank would look if I did the 3 ATI blue and 1 ATI aquablue. I wish there was a way of seeing the tank colors with different bulbs.
