I have a pink birdnest colony that was very pink when I bought it. It was even very pink in the bag bringing it home. When I put it in my tank it was instantly brown. So I don't think it lost color I just don't see much pink under my bulbs. I have the 420/460 Combo spectrum PC actinics.. which bring out other colors great. I've tried 14k BLue life and now XM 20k for main bulbs and that didn't seem to matter too much.

I have the Iwaski 15k and they seem to bring out the pinks in my lobo, rics and zoas. And I supplement with 454's for actinic.

i'm running a combination of UVL bulbs, the White Actinic and the 75.25. Both bulbs bring out reds, but if you're looking for a main/daylight bulb, then the white actinic would work well.

pink is not a fluorescent evicted color... it is actually a combo of the right amount of two opposite wavelengths bouncing off the coral.

The color is reflected off of a chromoprotein. More specifically chromoprotein: CP-560. It is most reflective in the wavelengths of 502nm all the way up to around 583nm... so if you can find a light that emits around the higher end of the spectrum it will be a nice pink color ;)
