And now we begin to understand why AI's and Radions are so expensive. There is some statisfaction in DIY, though.

Exactly. There are a lot of "goodies" packed inside those high-end units and a whole lot of R&D to figure out what to pack in there and how to pack it.

GHL is releasing their candidate for the LED market right now (Mitras) and it's even MORE feature packed than the AI's and Radion and will include Lightning in addition to all of the other cool LED features. Of course it comes with a hefty price tag as well. Once I have a tank available I'll go that route. It's LOADED with LED (8 different channels of colors) and should set the bar pretty high in that arena very soon.

Yes DIY is a LOT of satisfaction. I'm running 1 totally DIY kit and 1 semi-DIY (Modular LED) system and LOVE them both. Neither have "lightning" but the one from ModularLED does have "Clouds, rainy days and moon simulation" all controlled from my ProfiLux P3 unit. Lightning is handled by the GHL Simu-L (tube form factor weather simulation LED unit).

I like what I see with the Mitras BUT..... what I really DON'T like is the control panel. It looks like its going to either have a steep learning curve or be cumbersome to navigate. I'd much rather a usp connection to a computer. That was a big selling point for me over the AI Sol.

It's not a steep learning curve but the best part is they are wireless to your controller if you're running a ProfiLux. Wireless to the controller and wirelessly banked together.

Of course if you're not running a ProfiLux you "should" be but if you don't go that route the on-board controls are fairly intuitive.

    Solved!

    I figured it out!!!!!

I came up with the idea to Oscillate each driver (White & Blue) on different times to simulate storm effects on my Rapid LED build. Id like to thanks JonJonWells for the brainstorming discussions via 3reef chat.

Here is a video of what it looks like, I plan tweak it a little more to create a more realistic effect.

Let me know what you guys think.. :)

Here is the Apex Programming I used:

    [ Storm1 ] ( PF23 )
    Type: Pump
    Synchronize: Enable
    Divide By 10: Enable
    Initial Off Time: 45
    On Time: 1
    Off Time: 19
    Minimum Intensity: 20
    Maximum Intensity: 100

    [ Storm2 ] ( PF24 )
    Type: Pump
    Synchronize: Enable
    Divide By 10: Enable
    Initial Off Time: 35
    On Time: 1
    Off Time: 12
    Minimum Intensity: 20
    Maximum Intensity: 100

    [ BlueLED ] ( base_Var1 )
    Program Type: Advanced
    Display Icon: Light A
    Program:
    Fallback OFF
    Set OFF
If Time 10:00 to 10:30 Then SunriseB
If Time 10:30 to 20:00 Then DayB
If Time 20:00 to 21:00 Then SunsetB
If Temp > 83.5 Then OFF
    Min Time 002:00 Then OFF
    If FeedB 000 Then Storm1
    If Switch1 OPEN Then OFF

    [ WhiteLED ] ( base_Var2 )
    Program Type: Advanced
    Display Icon: Light B
    Program:
    Fallback OFF
    Set OFF
If Time 10:30 to 11:00 Then SunriseW
If Time 11:00 to 19:00 Then DayW
If Time 19:00 to 20:00 Then SunsetW
If Temp > 82.5 Then OFF
    Min Time 002:00 Then OFF
    If FeedB 000 Then Storm2
    If Switch1 OPEN Then OFF

Thanks Cosmo! I really have no idea how often I'll be using that feature but now at least I can say my BC has lightning. ;)
