I only have about 2 1/2" foot head after I made some mods so I figure Im only getting around 220 gph max on the return. But somethings working good, cause I have had the sump fuge running for two days now with no problems and my nitrates have been cut in half....lol so Im happy about that.

If you have a quite one 1200 over running anything you have a serious problem somewhere.. I have never heard of a 5/8 I.D pipe unless it was for refrigeration Any ASEI or ASTM rated pipe for plumbing in the USA is either 1/2 3/4 or 1 " I.D a 5/8 pipe is far to small it should be 1" Id minimum its simply hydro locking up What type of Overflow is it I'd like to see a photo of the thing and the way it is plumbed and as for feeding the skimmer from the fuge ??? Why do you do that ?
The Overflow should drain to the sump then some of that water to sump needs to be diverted over to the fuge and that needs to run slowly through the fuge to allow the solids to settle out then that should drain directly into the sump .
The skimmer needs to be fed supply water from the sump.. You can not feed anything with say a Dual 3/4 into a single 3/4 main drain I have mine on dual 1" laterals from Bulkheads into a 1.1/2 Vertical stack into a horizontal 2" over to sump in basement . What you need to do is feed those 2 maybe 3/4 drains into a 1' or 1.1/4 main drain then tee off of that over to the fuge ? Thats how I would and feed the skimmer from the water passing through the sump..

Do you have any stand pipes setting into the bulkhead on the outlet of the HOB overflow box ? or are you just leting the water run right into open bulkheads like a floor drain ? A Mag 3 would do far far more then the 2200 or 3000 quiet one .

yeh it came with 2 stand pipes with the filter things over them now that I am typing this of coarse if I pull out the stand pipes the water wouldn't fill up the sides it would just drain.sometimes I have my moments..:).(happens more and more as I get older).

Havent had it long enough to find that one out...lol...Only had it for two days so far.

Tangster, My sump / fuge was designed from input from people on here before I built it. I am very new to sumps, and I had a thread about how to set one up, and I went with what was suggested.
For all I know, what I have may not be and probably isnt set up right now since you chimed in about my setup. I have seen from many posts you are very good when it comes to this stuff. Anyways, here is what my setup is:
10 gal inside cabinet under DT
From left to right, three chambers plus bubble trap:
Drain from DT into first chamber (fuge) with LS (all I could afford to put in there right now)
I have a HOB skimmer ( i know, i know) so from fuge, the maxijet pumps the water out of the first chamber, gets skimmed, drains into next chamber through carbon.
water flows through bubble trap into return chamber, pumped back to DT.
I was going to initially use a 20 long for the setup with 4 chambers, but I couldnt get the damn thing inside my DT's cabinet....So the 20 long is now my FW tank. The setup I just described was given ok's by several members on here, so I figured I was good to go. I dont have the money to redo this thing if I need to, the wife isnt happy about my spending for the setup to begin cause money is VERY tight. Oh, and the 5/8" was my fault, I was in a hurry and got the 3/4 OD by mistake...lol

I guess if it would be better, I could add a seperate fuge maybe...and tee off the drain, and use a siphon to transfer the water from the fuge to the skimmer....I dunno....
