That's good to hear that some bigger companies are not so old fashioned that way crank, but who's to say your next job will be so "understanding"? You might never get that "next job" because of the visible tat. It all depends on who is hiring. Hopefully you are talking about a white collar office job, because exxon, chevron, valero, ford, GM etc have some very dirty jobs that I know don't care about tats.
