One of my mushroom corals just up and disappeared! It was beside of a new one that had been growing and it had not spread out much the past week. I thought maybe it was because it was being crowded by or just making room for the new one. I was shocked to see it just totally gone with no trace of it anywhere. Can anyone shed some light on this?

they can and do release themselves from the rock or other surface they are attached to
they then drift about /roll about really, until they come to a stop somewhere else
which IME has often been at the back of the rock work somewhere, and I have been surprised at times to find shrooms as the back of the rock( when looking sideways down the tank) and find them to be doing just fine where they are , albeit stretching to get some light

I have had the same experience as Steve. Everything should be fine.

Same here. I had a green mushroom come off of one of my rocks. I thought it was lost. The little turd made it through a tank move and all, unburied itself and is now happy in the back of the tank where I can't enjoy it! LMAO!

Well that just backs up what my LFS said. Thanks. I don't see it anywhere, and I believe I have another one that is about to do the same thing. Otherwise, the tank is doing beautifully. I have even acquired a cool feather duster. Thanks again.

If I had yumas or rics, no, but all others are a nuisance to an SPS dominant reef.
