UV filter glass?

    I was researching how high above my frag tank my 250w metal halides should be (currently about 20", water is 12" deep) and ran across a thread talking about corals bleaching from lack of uv filter glass on the fixture??? The fixtures I got did not come with any glass is this ok?

    Hmm.. upon further research it looks like the glass may only be required for double ended bulbs?

    Can anyone confirm this?
