Not to trouble you to much reefsparky
but could you put some before and after photos on same post so I can instantly see difference ( now there would be a few pages between and thus not as easy to judge the light output difference)

OK. So for Steve--and everyone else (not to forget Luna, lest I be held in high ridicule. .. ) Here are before and after shots.

I've decreased the photo period for the halide component to two hours less per day. They come on an hour later, and off an hour sooner. If well tolerated, I'll bring it back to where it was over 3 or 4 weeks.

The before pics are with 150W 14K SPS bluelife halides, the after are with 250W 20K inexpensive (Oddysea) lights.

    The before:

Nice. Was it just a matter of terminating the leads and you were done?

I was going to order my Phoenix 14Ks, and your thread is killing me! I have a couple of offers in on some used 250w ballasts. We'll see what happens.;D

I don't have a lot of experience in viewing different bulbs, Luna--but I'd say overall I'm a tiny bit less than impressed. I was expecting it to be a bit more blue.

It doesn't really show in the pics, but they are plenty bright. I have a feeling that when I put better quality bulbs on this new ballast, I'll really see a difference.

    We'll see.
