understanding what I have

    As long as the coral is growing I wouldn't worry to much about it. My formosa grew like crazy but I didn't hardly see polyps for 3 months after I got it. Polyps out means your coral is hungry.

    thanks for all the advise always learning.

    So just an update - it does seem to be lighting up everyday, i do notice some growth on the lower branches.
    I did notice two strands almost like a whip - could they be polyps?

    Most polyps are only a 1/8" - 1/4" long.

    All SPS corals secrete ooze, for lack of a better word. It strings out when there are quick temperature, salinity or any other parameter change. It helps protect the tissue of the coral.

    I would say that you do not have a stag. When I get home, I will check back and try and narrow it down for you.
