I am in the process of upgrading to a larger tank. I have a new stand and found a fish tank for sale on craigslist for cheap that I thought about using for my sump tank. It wasn't until after I got to the sellers house when I noticed he had a pretty nice terrarium with turtles in it and I made a comment about it. He then said he recently upgrade to that, which is why he was selling the fish tank that I was purchasing.

While I was on my way home, I started thinking about if it was a good or bad idea to use a tank that previously housed turtles. I know they can have salmonella as well as many other germs that would not be good to get into my reef tank but with a good cleaning would it be fine?

I was just curious if someone had any experience and/or facts either way about something like this.

    Thanks,
    Michael

As long as you clean the tank it will be just fine.

Clean the tank well with hot water and vinegar.
I've reused tanks that housed turtles with no issues
