To add flavor to the conversation, I had a red scarlet hermit that was attacking my turbos only. I didn't see it at first, but every day for a week I would walk in and see all my turbos lying on their backs. One day I just sat there and watched, and low and behold, every time one of them tried to move, the scarlet would attack its foot. Once I sump chucked the hermit, the snails all went back to normal. Just food for thought.

Turbo's do not live in the substrate and are algae eaters.
Since the turbo snail is an algae eating snail, sufficient algae must be present to properly maintain the animal. Supplemental feeding can prove difficult. Turbo snails can be sensitive to quick changes in salinity and pH but my guess would be starvation. These are very efficient and just 1 in my 90 was more then enough with minimal CUC present.

You are thinking of Nassarius or similar snails.

    Turbo's on their backs?

I thought that if they fell off and got on their back, that they couldn't turn over by themselves!?!

Turn em over, see what happens?

    HA!!! lol

That thing is so aggressive. It attacks me when I put my hand into the sump. I could litterally crush it with my thumb and forefinger, yet it still has no fear of me.
