Ok so i got a 46gal bow front and im adding a 20 gal sump. I need help figuering out the pump return and overflow box.

I already have a aqua clear 110 pump $FREEBEE$ I did find out its rated at 900gph and im looking for the right over flow box thats gunna handle that. The only ones iv found are 800gph and 1200gph. Im afraid the 800 wolnt keep up and the 1200 might be loud stopping and starting to siphon all the time.

Or should i do somthing els?

Any imput will be helpfull i have a half a$$ idea of what im doing.:p

    And another thing
When i do water changes i stir up alot of crap in the tank and i want that to go to the sump to filter. Any input on what i can do for that? all these overflow boxes have lil pre filters and sponges that wolnt let that pass threw.

put a ball valve on the return and go with the 800 if you dont want to buy a new pump

no, you will be fine.. I have a mag 9 turned down to about 1/3 flow and its doing just fine.. Get the 800gph overflow.. If your tank isnt already filled I would recommend Glass-Holes.com dope aquarium stuff : Home 700gph overflow kit.. I have it and LOVE it..

    jessman,

With head loss from the 900 gph pump going up you will lose some of your gph, and with a 800gph box going down you will gain a little gph overflow with gravity. You will be more than fine with a 800 gph overflow. I would add the ball valve with a elbow returning a line back to you sump just in case.

I did glass-holes also and drilling is very easy and well worth the work! No worries!

An aqua clear 110 is a powerhead, not really pump. It is not pressure rated at all, and would not be able to be used as a return from the sump, just so you know. I would look at mag-drives for a return.
If you do not want to drill, I would highly suggest an Eshopps overflow.
