Trouble keeping acros :(

Also, I started dosing alk. for a week because me alk read low for two straight weeks (Red Sea kit). I averaged out how much it was dropping per day and used the BRS calculator to figure out how much I needed to dose daily.

Well I tested that following week and my alk. shot up off the scale. I did some water changes and brought it down to 4.2 (12 dKH). I did another water change the next day and it read 4.8 (13.5 dKH). I can't explain those results. I did have high mag 1600-1700, so maybe it was causing inaccurate readings or maybe the Redsea kit has precision issues.

 

Did you select the right units on their calculator? Was almost burned myself once by failing to do that.
