    I don’t like the idea of placing the tank along the side of an external wall, but the wife reminded me that we paid extra to have the walls double insulated at construction. Boy, did that idea pay off.

    The wood panels are in and they look great. The door panels are notched as requested and the top cap of the stand has a 1-inch lip added all the way around. Now time for staining and sealing.

    We have one of our reef tanks right in our breezeway; very first thing when you walk into our house. First to words from anyone new are "Hi, wow!" :) That will look awesome there!

    All the door panels and stand top are sanded, stained, and polyurethane. To get the color I was looking for the top required three coats of stain. In addition, five costs of polyurethane were applied to every piece of wood.

    Nice job staining! I am currently doing a similar project and am having trouble getting the stain perfectly even. Yours look perfect!

    If there's anything I learned about staining wood; you have to work fast and with the grain. BTW, I built that wall unit.

    The wall unit was moved to the sides and the stand was put in place to get a visual.
