Well I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but have come across conflicting info on the internet and was curious what yall think. Tank is 30"x30"x14" with quite a bit of open room. I'm sure the tang police will show up shortly but still would like to know. I haven't purchased one so don't chastise me yet...

I would think you could get away with a small one for a little while but yeah 50 gallons is a bit small even for a Tomini, 75 or bigger would be better

That's what I've read online. I may try it, I get nervous trying to introduce tangs to a tank though.

I'm torn on this question. My Tomini is not a huge swimmer like a zebramosa or acanthurus is. The deeper footprint my allow more foraging room but I would only try this in a peninsula type aquascape so that he travels, through, above and most im importantly, around the formation. It will make the system 'bigger' in his mind and help to alleviate stress from a smaller tank.

+1,they seem to be more into grazing than traveling distances like larger tangs, plenty of interesting rockwork might keep one happy.I'd be very tempted to try one....beautiful fish.

this would be safe to say for most bristletooths though right, that they would be happier grazing than swimming?

Yeah,I think so,I just don't know if they are calm enough by nature to live long term in a 30x30x14 tank.I think the rockwork would be a key factor, along with nonagressive tankmates.
