I am curious about that overflow setup.
Are you not using pvc elbows inside the overflow itself?

That is different than what I did:

(I actually raised mine higher than it is in this pic.)

I can't think of why that won't work, but I am curious about noise, etc.

due to the limit spacing inside the overflow, instead of using an elbow, i got this curved arcylic to cover up to entrance so the water diffuse to the side and fill up and then gone into the bulkhead. ill shoot u a close up tomorrow

I would have never made the overflows like you now have then ?? The problem with bulkheads like you have them is they will air lock then gulp and then gurgle and its not much that can be down with them.. I myself would have used an internal vertical column type overflow then drilled my bulkhead lower then you could have just went with 1 1.5 inch . Maybe after you get it going then you can try some material to slow the drainage sound down ? Unless you have room to do somthing like the pic. matt posted.. maybe a street ell will fit ? But what he posted is what you will have to have ..with the set up you have..

if look at my last pic I do have what matt got. Instead of having an elbow I have an arcylic plate over the bulk head divert the flow to the side below flowing down to the sump
